Review from Rotten Meats
This latest cassette from Susan Fitzpatrick & Stuart Arnot is full of lovingly observed madness…an improvised scramble of junkyard rummages and asylum throat falls, abridged by dronal sax and squeeze box wheeze…
The ‘Aura Mirror Come Fickle’ side starts all methanol fatigue squelched…. The saxophone’s cacophonic limbs fingering your head in sliding horizons of drone, bleeding over to some disturbed throat action. A bizarre Schwitters like dance of pip spitting, vowel fights, and folksy shadowing. Lip tourettes thrown into some lovely reverby springs as the murky scene is illuminated in the sulphurous strike of match heads…
The flip ‘Anachronous Law and Manner’ opts for squeeze box and whistling exhales, backward snoring and a bewildering variety of betweens. Sipping hot tea to witchy murmuring … metallic clanks of cutlery and teaspoon chink … hub cap / cymbal showers of tipping beads mixing with some freeform jazz angles… This baby has a lot of weird energy oozing out of it, and is well worth wrapping your ears round…nice Luchardor(ed) bear on the cover too…
