Review from Boomkat

Frenzied, gamelan-inspired noise from this Peckham-based percussion troupe, who manage to sound like about four different Sublime Frequencies records playing all at once (with a bit of Chris Watson birdsong thrown in for good measure). The Baptist Grip is chaotic and disorientating, but ultimately it’s an amazing listen, rendering a kind of alternate, hyper-real alternative to legitimate ethnomusicologist-style recordings. Amongst the pots-and-pans clatter you’ll hear soaring drones, jangling ambiences and occasionally ascents into sheer, blistering noise, but through every turn this music carries an eerie, otherworldly beauty.
